SCB-30/10-0.4KV Cast-Resin Dry-Type Transformer

When a customer sends us an inquiry for an SCB-30/10-0.4KV, we first check whether the 30 kVA capacity matches the actual load. The model identifies a three-phase cast-resin dry-type transformer with a nominal 10/0.4 kV voltage ratio. It does not specify the complete electrical and mechanical configuration.

Before we quote, we confirm the frequency, vector group, impedance, tapping range, loss requirements, cooling method, enclosure and installation conditions. Buyers who need a customized unit can send these details directly to our cast resin dry type transformer manufacturer team.

How We Read the SCB-30/10-0.4KV Model

In the transformer naming system normally used for this product:

  • S identifies a three-phase transformer.
  • C identifies cast-resin insulation.
  • B normally indicates foil-winding construction.
  • 30 is the rated capacity in kVA.
  • 10 is the nominal high-voltage rating in kV.
  • 0.4 is the nominal low-voltage rating in kV.

We use kVA and kV in formal technical documents, although customers may write the model with KV.

For a three-phase 30 kVA unit, the calculated nominal current is approximately 1.73 A on the 10 kV side and 43.3 A on the 0.4 kV side. We place the final rated currents on the approved data sheet and nameplate.

This model does not contain a series number such as SCB10 or SCB13. Therefore, we do not determine the no-load loss, load loss or efficiency level from the model name. Those values must be agreed before production and verified in the test report.

What We Confirm Before Releasing Production

For an SCB-30/10-0.4KV order, our technical review starts with the load. A 30 kVA transformer may serve auxiliary equipment, lighting, control circuits or another small distribution load, but the buyer must provide the actual demand.

We also ask whether the load includes motors, variable-frequency drives, rectifiers, UPS equipment or other harmonic-producing devices. These conditions can affect transformer selection.

The electrical confirmation sheet includes:

  • Rated frequency
  • Vector group
  • Percentage impedance
  • High-voltage tapping range
  • Insulation level
  • No-load and load losses
  • Temperature-rise limit
  • Required terminals
  • Applicable standard

We then check the installation. The buyer should provide the room temperature, altitude, humidity, ventilation, available clearances and cable-entry direction.

The unit pictured has an open-frame arrangement. Its three cast-resin phase windings, upper terminals, colored connection bars and steel clamping structure remain accessible. If the project requires an enclosure, we confirm its protection level, ventilation openings, dimensions and access panels on the drawing before production.

The current assembly has no external fan modules installed. We do not add fans automatically. Cooling mode is selected according to the transformer losses, enclosure and site ventilation, then recorded in the approved technical data.

How We Assemble and Inspect the Transformer

For this type of dry transformer, our production control focuses on the winding insulation, core assembly, electrical clearances and mechanical support.

After the core and windings are assembled, we check the position of each phase, tapping connection, terminal, fastener and grounding point. The colored phase connections help our production and inspection teams identify the three phases during assembly and final checking.

The red cast-resin surfaces must remain free from visible impact damage and contamination. The upper insulated terminals must also remain correctly aligned because their positions affect the customer’s cable or busbar connection.

For an IEC-specified order, the customer may use IEC 60076-11 for dry-type transformers as the technical reference for the agreed dielectric, thermal, environmental and enclosure requirements. General ratings, connection symbols and transformer specification terms can also be reviewed under IEC 60076-1.

We only state IEC compliance in the order documents when the required standard and test scope have been agreed with the customer.

Our routine inspection plan for an SCB-30/10-0.4KV order may cover:

  1. Winding resistance
  2. Voltage ratio
  3. Vector group
  4. No-load loss and current
  5. Load loss and impedance
  6. Insulation tests
  7. Visual and dimensional inspection
  8. Accessory checks when accessories are included

Before shipment, we compare the finished transformer with the approved technical sheet, drawing and nameplate information.

Documents, Packing and Delivery Preparation

We ask the customer to approve the technical data and drawing before manufacturing starts. This avoids late changes to the vector group, tapping range, terminals or enclosure.

The project document package can include:

  • Approved technical data sheet
  • Dimensional drawing
  • Nameplate drawing
  • Terminal arrangement
  • Routine test report
  • Packing list
  • Installation and operating information

Because the SCB-30/10-0.4KV has exposed resin windings and insulated terminals, its packing must prevent movement, impact, moisture and dust during transport. We secure the transformer by its steel base and protect the active parts without placing transport force on the windings or terminals.

For an accurate quotation, send us the quantity, frequency, vector group, impedance, tapping range, loss requirement, enclosure, installation conditions and destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order this transformer using only the model number?

We can prepare an initial review, but we cannot release production from the model number alone. We still need the frequency, vector group, impedance, taps, losses, cooling and installation details.

Does the transformer need a protective enclosure?

It depends on the installation. For an electrical room with controlled access, an open arrangement may be acceptable. Where personnel, dust or foreign objects can reach the active parts, we design the order with a suitable enclosure.

Does this 30 kVA transformer require cooling fans?

Not automatically. We confirm natural-air or fan-assisted cooling from the thermal design, enclosure and site ventilation before approving the technical data.

The SCB-30/10-0.4KV is a compact 30 kVA, 10/0.4 kV transformer configuration. Our quotation is based on the complete project requirements, not only the model code.
